In 2017 ArrestRecords.com named Dayton, Ohio the worst major city for opioid related overdoses in the United States. As members of the Dayton area community, this statistic is both upsetting and seemingly impossible. However, when looking at the number of overdoses per year, Dayton's overdose rate increased over 30% in the 2017 year.

Sinclair has allowed students of their Mass Communication courses to create a health campaign that they felt passionate about. This is ours.

We believe that information is power. Having knowledge on a subject gives you the ability to make judgements and decisions related to that subject more efficiently. Think about how much a college education costs. You are paying for knowledge because is what gives you the capabilities to perform a job correctly. Thus, being educated on the risks that opiate use poses will hopefully help individuals make a more informed decision when/if the opportunity to use these substances should arise.

“Free men can easily become enslaved, if they let others do their thinking and talking, instead of using their own heads.” ― Richard Puz

Thank you for your support of Opiate Awareness in the Dayton Area!
